Centennial Parklands

Palm Trees in Centennial Park

Centennial Parklands is 360 hectares of exploration only 5km south-east of Sydney’s CBD. Perfect for the active dog who needs a good run about daily, though plenty to explore for the smaller breeds too.

You won’t only find large ovals, inner pathways and peaceful surrounds at Centennial Parklands, you’ll find almost every outdoor activity to enjoy! Well maybe not quite but it’s most definitely a hive of activity.

There’s a running track, soccer, cricket and football fields, cafes, restaurants (dog friendly and not so much) festivals from time to time, Moonlight Cinema, take deep breath… cycling, golf, ducks and their ponds, picnic areas, horse riding, yes horse riding and much much more!

With all that and more to explore how can Dexter and I not consider Centennial Parklands one of our favourite spots to be. Dexter and I particularly enjoy Paperback Grove. In summer it’s well shaded with large Paperbacks planted in rows. The way the light trickles through the trees is something to behold. It’s as if the space is constantly changing. A big plus when your ‘go to’ daily walks start to border the mundane.

I recommend taking a picnic blanket too, with some nibbles and a cheeky wine for relaxation time. Though this parkland is set in the heart of Sydney, the surrounding streets filled with heavy traffic and the hustle and bustle of Sydney life is a distant hum from amongst these trees.

There’s always so much to do and see at Centennial so it’s always a good idea to check to see what’s on, especially for the kids. Right now they have the Bush School Taster, Nature play, animal investigations, games and stories for children aged 3-5 years.

You can find out more about events here.

The parklands are super digital with a rocking Instagram account that shares park visitor images and their very own app. You can download it here for an interactive map, live info on sports fields, events calendar and more.

Thanks for coming to @centparklands !
